Steering Committee
  • develop Mission Statement and Goals in consultation with Committee Chairs
  • coordinate all phases of VoteBluePA program in light of Mission and Goals
  • make decisions for VBP when time constraints or emergencies call for it
  • develop MeetUp and Chairs' Meeting agendas
  • act as "court of last appeal" if issues can not be solved in any other way
  • support committees and committee chairs enabling them to reach VBP goals
  • provide overall "group maintenance"

Voter Registration/Volunteer Sign-Ups
  • locate appropriate events
  • organize logistics (volunteers, literature, table, etc.) for events
  • voter registration forms (check for accuracy, copy, deliver to Elections Bureau)
  • volunteer sign-up sheets (check for legibility, deliver to Information/Tech Group)

Neighborhood Volunteers Committee
  • strengthen the local grassroots structure for progressive parties, through the following objectives:
    • create projects that increase the number of volunteers working in their own precincts/neighborhoods
    • develop literature and supplies for precinct volunteers

Fundraising
  • organize fundraising events (for both candidates and for the MeetUp group)
  • production of buttons and bumperstickers

Media
  • philosophy: offset the drumbeat from conservative media outlets
  • group itself will determine their specific areas of interest
  • writing letters to the editor and to sponsors of conservative media

Liaison
  • act as liaisons to county and state organizations
  • attend meetings (city council, Democratic committee, etc) where appropriate
  • keep in touch with local organizations and let the MeetUp group know when and where our help is needed (precinct captains, volunteers for events, etc)
  • report to MeetUp group on Election Day activities (phone banking, canvassing, etc)
  • organize MeetUp volunteers to attend local functions

Idea Committee

  • monitor focus and suggestions from fellow MeetUp members
  • develop survey for members
  • collection of data

Information and Technology (IT)
  • develop website (homepage, calendar, links, privacy statement, photo gallery)
  • maintain website and update calendar
  • develop and update database of group members
  • maintain voter information for Dauphin and Cumberland Counties

Media Monitoring Committee
  • monitor local media outlets for articles and programs of interest to the group
  • committee members report to co-chairs who in turn share info with VoteBluePA
  • monitor television, radio, newspapers
  • letter writing campaigns and phone calls where appropriate
  • basically acting as the eys and ears of the group and sharing information

Volunteer Commitee
  • personal welcome to each new volunteer
  • follow-up letter to new volunteers
  • verification of volunteers' contact info
  • set up and maintenance of "phone tree" for volunteers without email contact

Thank You Notes Committee (ad hoc)
  • composition of thank you notes to be hand delivered to target precinct voters
  • distribution of notes
  • any follow-up thought to be appropriate

Values Commitee

  • to assist VoteBluePa in articulating its values and helping to frame issues
  • to recommend a general Values Statement for VoteBluePa usage
  • to invite persons with varying values and faith stances to be a part of the committee and the organization (if they are not members already)
  • to monitor statements and issues of those who oppose progressive candidates to discover the more comprehensive issue(s) that they are promoting
  • to highlight the fact that Progressive Values are Traditional American Values
  • to be about the work of educating the members of the organization on the topic of "Reframing" as George Lakoff has defined and described it
